Renowned political analyst, public commentator, business man and Chairman, Board of Trustees, Edo-okpa Unity Forum, Chief Peters Evbota joined Nigerians in celebrating Democracy Day 2021.
Fielding questions from journalists in Lagos, Chief Evbota, the Esan Born Business Executive submits that the Day is worth celebrating because according to him "democracy is a journey and not a destination"
Speaking further, he noted that the worst form of civilian administration is better than the military and called on the citizens to take advantage of the coming voters update to go out en masse and get registered to vote in coming elections.
He said the citizens should not stop at registering to vote alone. "I don't care attitude cannot help. People should join political parties of their choices and be vocal in their local communities so that when politicians come out to ask for their votes they will be prepared and well informed" he submits.
Chief Evbota, who is also Chairman of Adesua Hotels and Event Centre, Ikotun Egbe, Lagos conclude that citizens should shun political apathy and that the beauty of democracy allows the citizens to vote out a non performing government.
Edo Okpa Unity Forum ably led by Chief Evbota is an organization aimed at fostering unity, oneness, and friendship among Edo State Indigenes across the globe. The organization has been very active in bringing socour to the less privileged members of Edo Communities through poverty alleviation exercise for the poor most especially widows.
Chief Peters Evbota, a Nigerian business mogul and political analyst has his root from the family of Mr. and Mrs. Onojie Daniel Evbota. While his father is from Emaudo, Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State, his mother hails from Abeokuta, Ogun State
He attended Yaba Model Primary School in Lagos State before proceeding to Ujoelen Grammar School Ekpoma. After his secondary education, Chief Peters Evbota, popularly called “Shakara” in his secondary school days gained admission into the then Bendel State University (BENSU), now Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma where studied Political Science and graduated with a Second Class Upper.
After carrying out his primary assignment which he undertook in Kwara State, Chief Evbota jetted out of the country for that proverbial “greener pastures” search. He was abroad for over two decades traversing America and several European countries before finally settling down in the UK.
His love for his country and the burning desire to contribute his quota made him somewhat restless at the later part of his sojourn abroad. He took a stand and came back to Nigeria five years ago; a decision he said he has never regretted. Chief Evbota is ever grateful to his parents who ensured that despite the fact that they were based in Lagos, they ensured he had his secondary and university education at home.
Back home, he invested in the hospitality business and his Adesua Hotel & Event Centre in Lagos is a house hold name especially for residents in the Alimosho and Ejigbo axis due to its variegated niche services. Aside from the hospitality business, Chief Evbota has huge investments in oil & gas, haulage; and is also into trading.
Though still based in London, Chief Evbota, who is married with children, is often in Nigeria to oversee his businesses.
He is a humanitarian to the core and a philanthropist to the less privileged in the society both home and abroad.
He was a former president, Ekpoma Okpa in the United Kingdom, former National Coordinator of Edo-okpa Vanguard and now Chairman Board of Trustee Edo-okpa Unity Forum Worldwide.
Chief Peters Ebhota believes and upholds the seven cardinal qualities of a good leader which he said includes: Honesty, Appreciation, Compassion, Fairness Courage, Impartiality and Responsiveness to all calls at every giving time.
He believes in change that will lead to the full restoration of the values of the Old Bendel State, community development, human capacity building, productivity, and in the long term, a self-sustaining State, where all will be cared for without being pauperized and taken advantage of, as presently practiced.
