SERGIUS OSEASOCHIE OGUN FOUNDATION PRESENTS NECO/SSCE ENROLLMENT GRANTS TO 600 CANDIDATES, OFFERS SCHOLARSHIP TO OVERALL BEST 6

In continuation of her humanitarian programmes,  Sergius Oseasochie Ogun Foundation (SOOF) has presented NECO/SSCE enrollment fees to 600 candidates drawn from both public and private secondary schools in Esan North-East and Esan South-East Local Government Areas of Edo State.

The presentation ceremony which held today, 5th June, 2021 at Sacred Heart Girls Model Secondary School Ubiaja was attended by dignitaries from all walks of life including traditional rulers, political leaders,  religious leaders, school principals, parents/ guardians of the beneficiaries amongst others.

In his brief remarks shortly before the presentation of the NECO/SSCE enrollment fees to the successful candidates, the initiator of the scheme and president of the foundation, Rt Hon. (Barr.) Deacon Sergius Oseasochie Ogun, Member, House of Representatives, Esan North-East/Esan South-East Federal Constituency congratulated the beneficiaries on their success in the mock test while urging them to use the grants for the intended purpose . He seized the opportunity to announce the offer of automatic university scholarship to the overall best six candidates, with an annual scholarship grant of #100, 000 ( One Hundred Thousand naira) per scholar. While expressing the foundation's readiness to support indigent graduates from the area to pursue their post graduate degrees, he disclosed that he had already assisted two female graduates to secure PH.D scholarship in foreign universities.

The short speech delivered by  Rt Hon. Ogun which was greeted with thunderous applause was followed by the formal presentation of the NECO/ SSCE enrollment grants to the 600 candidates, beginning, expectedly, with the overall best six candidates. The traditional rulers and political leaders present took turns to present the cash grants to the visibly elated final year students. The beneficiaries of the  undergraduate scholarship scheme also received their annual scholarship grant at the well-attended ceremony. Miss Ibhate Courage, a medical student of Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma conveyed the appreciation and prayers of all the beneficiaries to the foundation's president in a short emotional speech.

It is an open secret that  Sergius Oseasochie Ogun Foundation provides NECO/SSCE enrollment grants and undergraduate scholarship for deserving students on a yearly basis. The beneficiaries are selected strictly on merit. The foundation conducts mock test for eligible final year students and select the best 600 students based on their performance.  Over the years, thousands of students have benefitted from the free NECO/SSCE enrollment scheme and undergraduate scholarship scheme.

Other humanitarian programmes of the foundation include but not limited to annual free notebooks distribution excercise, provision of cash prizes for the best graduating Esan ND and HND graduating students in Auchi Polytechnic,   free medical outreach, human empowerment scheme, grading of earth roads, distribution of food commodities to widows, charity visit to orphanage,  charity visit to correctional centre, provision of legal aids for prison inmates,  provision of financial support for the needy, sponsorship of school inter-house sports competition etc.  In 2014, the foundation constructed a free borehole at Ubiaja Correctional Centre and donated free computer/ accessories to the management of the correctional facility. The list is endless.

One good thing about Sergius Oseasochie Ogun Foundation is the consistency of her humanitarian programmes. Against the rising tide of the mindless proliferation of politically inclined NGOs that rise and disappear with each election circle, Sergius Oseasochie Ogun Foundation has remained conspicuously strong and irreducibly committed to putting smiles on the faces of the common with no political or religious strings attached.

Team Sergius Ogun
