The award ceremony which was organised as part of the programmes lined up in celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the great Institution was Chaired by the amiable Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University -- Prof. Osadolor who presided over the event in collaboration with the University Ag. Registrar Mr. Aihebha in the presence of his Honour must be given to whom honour is due. This handsome young King, HRH Theophilus Osabase II, the Onojie of Egoro kingdom and special guest of honour and Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly - Rt. Hon. Amb. Marcus Iziegbeaya Onobun who was ably represented by his Mother - Hon. Chief Stella Okoro, the Alumni President world wide, with so many other Awardees & personalities was marked in huge success. 
Speaking at the ceremony, the Ag. Vice-Chancellor - Prof Osadolor thanked the Alumni body and especially the current Exco for coming up with this idea of honouring outstanding ambassadors of the institution, and finding it expedient to plan a project in collaboration with the progressive process arrangement agenda of the government through the current visitor of the university. He related the idea to what is obtainable in another civilized world all over both in America, Europe, Asia, and others. He enjoins the audience to continue seeing the university that has offered them great and positive  intellectual and character progress as part of their progression in life. 

Speaking after the award of honor which was delivered by the  registrar, The awardee, Hon. fidel Odiase who is also a proud Alumnus of the University thanked the current Alumni Executives and also the past Executive for a good job. He also congratulated the University Management, Staff, and Students for the 40th Anniversary of the University. Hon Fidel Odiase promised to support the hostel building project financially and  continue to always be with the Association
