OPEN MESSAGE TO EDO CENTRAL PDP LEADERS: WHERE IS THE DISCIPLINE THAT THE PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY IS KNOWN FOR?

It has come to the knowledge of some PDP stakeholders in Edo Central that one of it’s members, and a political office holder is assuming and usurping the position of the party structure in Esanland by forcefully taking over the responsibilities of the party structure and authorities.

Over the past 24-hours, The party faithfuls in the various LGA across the Senatorial District, especially the Okpebholo constituency have been inundated with SMS invitation that the same person who is representing a LGA at the EDHA, without the knowledge and authority of the party structure, ranging from the Senatorial, LGA, to Ward Chairmen, and party Leaders in the area, is scheduling and calling a party (PDP) meeting at the Esan West Council Secretariat Hall in Ekpoma on Saturday the 12th of November, 2022, @11am, to set up, constitute, and inaugurate a campaign council for the Constituency, LGAs, and Wards. This is according to the series of messages been extended and circulated by the person’s Aids.

The question that borders the mind are;

* Does political office holders, irrespective of position held has the power to call for party meeting, constitute, and inaugurate such council on behalf of the party? Does the party constitution allows this?

* Are party meetings now held at the *Local Government Council secretariats or offices under the management of career civil servants like the HOLGA who are supposed not to be involved directly outside the party Secretariat, or other places as may be deemed fit by party Leadership? Or the HOLGA has become such a pronounced interested party?

* Are the real party structure aware of this new trend, and what are their reactions? Are they in support of this action, or, they have become so handicap to the extent of not able to react for, or against the action? Or they have religuished their power and authorities to office holders in their various constituencies?

* In as much as the crises bedeviling the party is awaiting the judiciary to rest it, it is publicly observed that the Electoral umpire (The INEC) has displayed / published names of candidates for both the house of Assembly and the National Assembly of the various political parties, unfortunately, we see different candidates whose identity are not recognized by the umpire who are relying on the Court order, laying claim and campaigning with open bill boards and posters within the PDP, and yet, the party structure / leadership are not talking, is that trend meant to strengthen the party, or further polarize it? Or why are the party leadership not talking?

* The last time we checked, it was Aziegbemin that inaugurated the state campaign council in Benin, even when the Governor was seated, why are the other structure now going differently?

* Campaign by aspirants who are not recognized by law or the electoral umpire allow to continue Campaigning as candidates that they are not no matter how highly placed? Where is the place of impersonation in this action by those that feel they are above the law?

* Are the party leadership afraid of their usual thuggery and gun weirdly hooliganism that the leaders and executive cannot act, say, or do something to forestall discipline and party cohesion?

* Who are those drumming this embers of deadly disunity within the party?

* Can the party no longer enforce discipline among it’s membership?

If a stitch could not be saved in time, we think further stitches can be saved by ensuring that this illegality is not allowed to succeed.
